A Hair Story…

Don’t Judge Me

Posted on: December 12, 2012

But… I still have my ponytail from when I cut my hair on July 22, 2011. It’s been in a zip lock bag since then. It’s still as soft as when it was on my head. Unfortunately, it’s not long enough to donate to Locks of Love.

I wonder what my natural hair journey would have been like if I didn’t decide to cut off the relaxed ends that evening, after transitioning for 16.5 long months.

The one product I wish I had while transitioning is Kinky Curly Knot Today. My biggest problem with transitioning was detangling my hair after washing it and that product would have made my life a whole lot easier.

It was hard for me to let go of my hair, but I knew it would be better in the long run. I’m glad to read that I’m not the only one. SupaNaturalTammy from YouTube mentions that when she did her big chop, she cut off everything except for her bang. She called it her “sanity piece” and held onto it for a few days. LOL. Love her!

In any case… don’t judge me. Maybe one day I’ll be able to part with it.

I still have my hair as well.

Yesssss! So I’m not alone! Lol

That was definitely a lot of hair! I’m not judging!! Really!! But, I’m cracking up, because I don’t quite understand keeping it. Although, I did try to keep my wisdom teeth when they were removed b/c they were so BIG and cool!! I lost them some time in college though. LOL!!

Even I don’t know why I still have it! LOL!

I’m not mad at you. I would have probably kept it too….sentimental like that.
I can’t see why it’s not long enough for L.O.L.

I don’t think it’s 10″. Come to think of it, I never measured it.

Hey. Wow, your hair does look soft in that zip lock bag. So, you transitioned for 16.5 months? Cool. I did it for 15 months and just cut off my permed ends 2 weeks ago. Washing and styling my hair became a major struggle, so I had to get rid of it. I am happy I cut it, but am adjusting to this short hair. I love your posts, and will keep checking in. Be blessed.

Yeahhhhh… it was a lonnngggg transition. I never thought I would cut my hair, but like you, I grew impatient with the two textures and the breakage. Your hair looks nice, by the way.

That’s a lot of hair. Girl bury it and have a word of silence.

I’m keeping my hair. I’ll bury it when it grows back longer and fuller. Lol

I still have my hair too! I feel like if your big chop is a significant amount of hair it’s just natural to keep it as a memory lol

I guess. I just remembered my mom did the same when she cut off her locs.
